The major industries in Sublette County are oil and gas, tourism, recreation and government. Pinedale is the county seat for Sublette County and home of the Green River Rendezvous, held annually every second weekend in July.

Sublette County is located in western Wyoming and covers approximately 3.2 million acres, 80% of which is public land. Of the 23 counties in the state, Sublette County ranks sixth in geographical size. The Wind River Range runs north to south along the eastern portion of the county, the Gros Ventre Wilderness lies to the north, and the Wyoming Range runs along the western side.

Pinedale is a town in and the county seat of Sublette County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 2,030 at the 2010 census. Pinedale is an important hunting outfitting town and a gateway to the Wind River Mountains.

The facility presents a visual and interpretive experience into the era of the mountain man, the Plains Indian, the Oregon Trail and the developments of this region.
